I had a painful fall this week and I am laying on my couch to heal for a couple days, which means I am seeing t.v. that I do not normally see. I had the Today show on and then the show with Kathie Lee and Hoda, and kept reading the surfing the net, while the t.v. kept noise going. Then The 700 Club came on, they started with financial advise and there were many commercials pushing thier agenda. Then they brought in thier "christian" episode of miraculous healing of a child. Following that they brought up prayer requests from viewers and "members" of the show. The two hosts held hands and quoted a scripted prayer for those that had sent them requests. Then they started spouting stuff about things that were being healed in people in a very psychic way, as if they were seeing the problems people had. This made me perk my ears a little and pay attention to the way they were defacing Christianity!
This show gets a lot of attention and following from older people and people who are searching for answers in this crazy time in our country. This show aims to grab them and pull them in to give them "hope". They quote verses from the Bible and put thier own spin on it, in a way that emphasises men, power, money, and esteem. The Bible has many verses regarding this, but it also talks about the humble, the poor, the meek, and so on.
I just wanted to put my two cents out there and say, they may have some good stuff, but take what this show, The 700 Club, says with a huge grain of salt and do your own searching the Word of God. Don't take thier preaching for God's Word and His Plan! Any preacher can use thier "power" to make you think they know what is best, the truth is a preacher is still a human, and every human interprets everything thier own way.
