As some of you know, I am the pickiest eater ever. This can cause some problems sometimes. As some of you also know, I started eating salads this past summer, at the ripe age of 24. Don't laugh too hard, you might hurt yourself.
A lot of food goes uneaten for a while in my fridge and pantry because I just don't realize it is still there. I think I mentioned this somewhere in a previous post about shoving things to the back of the fridge and then finding them later. Now I have started trying to empty the fridge before I buy more stuff. That is hard to do as some things you run out of faster than others. But I think I am doing a better job due to the fact that we finally got some deer meat into our freezer this week.
Part of using what I have is trying to figure out a monthly menu. This has been a domestic challenge for me, as I find it hard to come up with that many meals at once. But it does save on trying to come up with ideas while I am grocery shopping. And thus buying food I don't need and won't use!
So one way to save on unneccessary food costs: menu planning by what you have and only buying the "accessories".
