The 700 Club

I had a painful fall this week and I am laying on my couch to heal for a couple days, which means I am seeing t.v. that I do not normally see. I had the Today show on and then the show with Kathie Lee and Hoda, and kept reading the surfing the net, while the t.v. kept noise going. Then The 700 Club came on, they started with financial advise and there were many commercials pushing thier agenda. Then they brought in thier "christian" episode of miraculous healing of a child. Following that they brought up prayer requests from viewers and "members" of the show. The two hosts held hands and quoted a scripted prayer for those that had sent them requests. Then they started spouting stuff about things that were being healed in people in a very psychic way, as if they were seeing the problems people had. This made me perk my ears a little and pay attention to the way they were defacing Christianity!

This show gets a lot of attention and following from older people and people who are searching for answers in this crazy time in our country. This show aims to grab them and pull them in to give them "hope". They quote verses from the Bible and put thier own spin on it, in a way that emphasises men, power, money, and esteem. The Bible has many verses regarding this, but it also talks about the humble, the poor, the meek, and so on.

I just wanted to put my two cents out there and say, they may have some good stuff, but take what this show, The 700 Club, says with a huge grain of salt and do your own searching the Word of God. Don't take thier preaching for God's Word and His Plan! Any preacher can use thier "power" to make you think they know what is best, the truth is a preacher is still a human, and every human interprets everything thier own way.

Frugal Christmas Tree Decorations

I told you how to save money on decorating your apartment, now how about saving money on decorating a Christmas Tree?! Since my husband and I are still "newly" married, less than three years, our tree is still small and we have stuff left over from our wedding. For our first christmas we didn't have anything to put on our tree except a very large very pretty topper. Our tree is only four feet tall so the topper looked funny. So I had to figure out what to put on the tree to make it look nice but not spend much.

The solution: our left over wedding favors: heart shaped cookie cutters. I have them hanging on the tree with the other small silver and red ball ornaments and a few others we have picked up through the couple years of wedded bliss.

More tips from using wedding stuff: I bought candles and plates to set them on that matched the decor of our apartment which was also our wedding colors; red, black, and white. I used the candles as our centerpieces for the reception. Then took them home and used them in the apartment decor.

Happy Christmas Decorating!

State Testing for Career Destinations

AAAAHHHHHH, deep breathing because it feels like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders and brain. Last night I felt like I had been hit by a semi truck, because stress had taken over my body for a few days and yesterday was especially a nerve wracking day. It took forever for my body to finally unwind from all the knots it was tied in, and I felt like I had the flu or something mixed with all the lethargy in my muscles from being tight. So I slept hard and sound last night and felt almost back to normal today.

The testing process itself was just an experience. I got there at 6:30 AM, it was less than 30 degrees and the moon was high in the sky still and traffic was still asleep. I had been up at 4:30 not able to sleep any longer and already walked to McDonald's for a protien and carb breakfast of sausage and cheese biscuit. I had also checked out of my room at the hotel, which was not the Ritz, but it was good enough for the little bit of sleep I got.

So back to 6:30 in the freezing biting wind standing in line with about 20 people I didn't know that were there for the second or third time, I was there for my first. They talked about how crazy the test was, how hard the questions were, how long they wait for results to find they had to come back again. I took all this in and stood quietly, feeling I would be fine and not have to come here again. (we will find out if my confidence was in good sometime in January hopefully)

The line continued to grow with more and more people lining the huge building at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The sign on the door says the building can hold 10,000 people. At 7 AM myself and 679 other people went through the door and went to the windows at will call and showed the people our blue card stock with our name, picture, and number and they check off your name and then tell you which section you are sitting in. The room is set with hundreds of tables with a chair at each end, about 7 feet long in very long rows with a number on them at each seat. You walk down the rows and find your seat, mine was in the front in the third row of tables. There was a bird flying around the cieling through the whole test.

People were throwing up thanks to brimming nerves, flocking to the bathrooms and trash cans, some not making it there before losing breakfast. There was one moment when I felt I might get sick, but I held it together and made it through. The head proctor was nice it seemed and very patient. You could only have your blue sheet, your pencils, and one beverage with you, no phone, no purse.

You had a large scantron sheet and the test book and started when they said start. 110 questions for Anatomy and Physiology. All of my classmates had navy blue shirts with a large human back that said "I got your back" and we could see eachother all over the room, giving us a reason to calm down and know we were in this together taking all same test. Finish the A&P walk up the long aisle and give it to a proctor and then go outside in the freezing air again for an hour or two and wait.

Come back in and sit down again for the next test, repeat the whole thing, 110 questions that have atleast two good answers to pick out of. Some questions say all of these options would work for so and so but you need to pick the BEST answer, these are my least favorite questions, there is no black and white answer, and I AM BLACK AND WHITE in my logical mind. So you take 110 questions for massage and then turn it in to the proctors again, saying thank you, and walking out the door, leaving everything in that large room. Leaving it to the Board to grade and decide if I get a license or not. Hopefully they will grant me the license I have worked very hard for and want to get so I can start helping people.

So that is the experience, in brief details, I left out a lot, but I might come back to go over some more later.
